Anchor the Word, with faith and rigor

AgapePlay is a long-term project to put Bible memorization back within everyone's reach. Here is what drives us.

Our mission

Memorize the Bible, finally simple

In the first century, disciples knew entire portions of the Old Testament by heart. This living memory fueled their prayer, their spiritual battle, their witness. Today, with Bibles everywhere accessible, we have paradoxically lost the habit of inhabiting them.

AgapePlay exists to put Bible memorization back within everyone's reach — without cheating on memory science, without artificial paywalls, without depending on an internet connection. Just Scripture, your brain, and an algorithm that respects both.

Our ambition: that in 10 years, a pastor, a father, a student, a missionary in a remote field can all say: "This word, I know it, it lives in me."

Our values

Four commitments structuring every decision

The Word, first

Scripture is at the heart of every interaction. No shallow entertainment: memorizing seriously means letting the Word enter into us.

The core stays free

Biblical content, learning modes, offline mode — all free, and will stay that way. Paid plans support the project; they don't unlock access to Scripture.

Science serving faith

SM-2 spaced repetition, Ebbinghaus forgetting curve, cognitive research on memorization — we apply the best of science to serve an ancient goal: anchoring Scripture.

Privacy by default

Your data stays local by default (IndexedDB). If you enable sync, it is encrypted in transit and stored on Supabase EU. We never sell your data.

The story

Born from frustration, built by faith

AgapePlay was born from a simple observation: mainstream Bible apps are designed for passive consumption (read a verse a day, listen to a podcast), not for active memorization. Those that do propose memorization impose aggressive paywalls, work only online, or forget modest devices.

The project started as a simple side-project: 50 flashcards on John LSG, an SM-2 algorithm implemented in TypeScript, and a PWA installable in 2 taps. Since then it has grown: 3 translations, 480+ TTS audio, 50+ narrative plans, 14 mini-games, weekly tournaments, church groups, live multiplayer.

The code is built to last: modern stack (React 19, Supabase, Vite 8), unit tests, regular security audits, no hidden tech debt. The foundation is solid enough to carry the next 10 years.

Made with faith in France. If the project resonates, you can support it via subscription, donation, or simply by sharing around you.
