Group challenges are a variant of Battle, but scoped inside a private group (cell group, home group, Bible study). The challenger picks the exact verses, game mode, and round count; the challenged accepts, plays, and scores are compared.

The difference from Battle: here it’s not a random pool but specific verses — typically the ones your group is currently studying.

Flow

  1. From the group screen, click “Challenge a member”.
  2. Select: opponent (among group members), verses (from your library or the group’s), mode (hidden words, reference, fill-in…), rounds (3-7).
  3. The challenged receives a notification. They accept or decline.
  4. Each plays their rounds at their own pace. Scores aggregated at the end.

Who it’s for

Built for home cells and Bible study groups who want to extend the group dynamic between meetings. Typical scenarios:

  • The cell is studying Philippians across 6 weeks. The leader runs a “Philippians 4 Challenge” between two members each week. The atmosphere isn’t hardcore competitive — it’s a pretext to revisit the text together.
  • Two young adults in a mutual accountability relationship. One challenge per week on their current reading plan.

Why not an anonymous duel

Battle pits you against a friend or stranger on a generic pool. Group challenges are contextual: you play on the text your group is studying, against someone you know and see on Sunday. The stakes aren’t the raw score, it’s the conversation that follows: “Oh you mixed up verse 13 and 16, I did that my first time too.”

FAQ

Do I need a group to use this? Yes. If you aren’t in a group, use Battle (open 1v1) or ask your cell leader to create an AgapePlay group.

Does the leader see every challenge’s score? A dashboard shows aggregated participation stats to pastor/admin roles — not individual answers. Challenge details stay between the two players.

Can I challenge the whole cell at once? Not in 1v1. For a challenge involving everyone, use Coop quests or Weekly tournaments.
