Church quests

What you preached on Sunday becomes the week's quest.

Church quests are the tool bridging what you preached Sunday and what your congregation meditates on through the week. From the pastor interface you author a custom quest (5-10 steps: narrative, verses, comprehension questions), you publish, and the whole church receives a push notification.

It’s the only mechanism in a French-language Bible app that turns a Sunday sermon into an interactive weekly journey — without having to prep a PDF, a newsletter, or a dedicated WhatsApp group.

How it works on the pastor side

  1. From /church/admin, click “New quest”.
  2. The editor lets you compose steps: narrative text, verse to read, comprehension question (choice or free), mini-quiz.
  3. Preview, publish. The notify-coop edge function fires a push: “Pastor [Name] just published ‘[Quest Title]’” to all registered members of your church.
  4. Each member plays the quest at their own pace. An aggregated dashboard shows how many have completed.

Who it’s for

  • Pastors who want to extend their sermon’s reach beyond Sunday morning
  • Cell leaders with a pastoral mandate on their group, wanting a follow-up tool
  • Deacons running training tracks (baptism prep, communion prep, etc.)

Typical scenario

Sunday 9:00 AM — You preach Psalm 23. Sunday 2:00 PM — Open AgapePlay’s quest editor, compose 7 steps that walk through your sermon verse by verse (with 1-2 comprehension questions per step). Sunday 3:00 PM — Publish. 73 members receive the notification. Friday evening — 42 members have completed. The dashboard shows step 4 (“valley of the shadow of death”) stumped half the church — material for your next cell meeting.

Difference from reading plans

AgapePlay’s official reading plans are prepared by the team for general use (anxiety verses, Psalm 91, armor of God). Church quests are 100% local to your community — they reflect your exegesis, your vocabulary, your applications.

What it shifts in church life

Discipleship is 90% what happens between Sundays. Most available tools (PDFs, WhatsApp groups, emails) have miserable completion rates because they lack both a playful and an accessible dimension. An AgapePlay church quest takes 8 minutes to play on the phone, in the subway, with polished design — completion rates typically hit 50-70% within 7 days.

FAQ

Do I need a subscription to author quests? Yes. It’s restricted to Small Church or Church+ tier accounts. The church “admin” account controls who is allowed to publish.

Do my members need to join the church in the app? Yes. Each member must be enrolled in your AgapePlay church (via invite code) to receive notifications and access published quests.

Can I edit a quest after publishing? Yes, for fixing a typo for example. Careful: if members have already started, their progress is preserved but they’ll see the new version.
